Jeffry Weisman: The Magic of San Miguel de Allende

Jeffry Weisman received his Bachelor of Arts degree with distinction in Design at Stanford University. He was elected to Phi Beta Kappa and won the Harley Earl Prize in Design. Subsequently, Weisman designed interiors at Skidmore, Owings & Merrill and Gensler before returning to Stanford to earn his MBA. He lectured in the undergraduate and graduate Design programs at Stanford during ten academic years. After business school he established First Design, a consultancy focused on the development and licensing of an extensive range of furniture, lighting, and other product designs with his late partner, Charles Pfister.  Following Pfister’s death in 1990, Weisman changed focus to residential interiors while continuing to develop and license his product designs.

Weisman and Andrew Fisher established Fisher Weisman in 2000. The firm’s work, described in the New York Times Sunday Magazine as “drop dead, big city chic,” includes distinctively luxurious and innovative interiors. In 2020, Bryn Brugioni rejoined the firm as partner in Fisher Weisman Brugioni with offices in San Francisco.

In addition to interiors, Fisher Weisman designed extensive furniture collections for Michael Taylor Designs and The Wicker Works, as well as iconic light fixtures for Boyd Lighting. In 2023, the duo created four dramatic collections of lighting for Visual Comfort for their first collaboration with the iconic brand.

Following the designers’ renovation and furnishing of their 18th century home in San Miguel de Allende, they launched Fisher Weisman Collection in 2016. The line of home furnishings is inspired by Andrew Fisher’s studio art and the extraordinary craftsmen of Mexico. The highly artistic line is offered to the trade through 15 showrooms across the US plus one in Mexico City, and their own gallery in San Miguel de Allende.

Fisher Weisman projects have been broadly published in magazines, newspapers, blogs, and books. The Monacelli Press published the firm’s first monograph, Artful Decoration, in 2013.
